Tracking Our Results

In 2009, Changing Worlds started a three-year demonstration study to measure the long-term impact of our Literacy and Cultural Connections (LCC) school partnership program.  The three-year demonstration study will measure students academic progress, arts learning and its connection to academic success, self-image, attitudes and their understanding and appreciation of other cultures.

The Center for Urban Research at Loyola University (CURL) is our evaluation partner for the demonstration project for the three year period.

Three Chicago public elementary schools were selected to participate in the demonstration study.  Each school is committed to, and is an equal partner in, the program development, implementation and evaluation efforts.  All three schools previously participated in our LCC program, and are ethnically and culturally diverse.  This diversity will allow us to measure the impact and results of our model in school settings with student populations that are reflective of the schools across the district.

We are also working with a comparison group of non-participating students to gather relevant evaluation data.  Our strategy is to gather the results of both groups at different stages of the demonstration study; resulting in a delayed comparison.

At the completion of the study, in the 2010-2011 school year, the results of LCC- study students who participated over the three-year span will be compared with the non-participating student results.
