"Diversity is the thread of who I am," shares Sharon Hidalgo, newly appointed board member of Changing Worlds. Born of African American and Latino descent, Sharon celebrates both races and has sought to learn about every other culture. Even as a mentor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Hidalgo chose mentees who were culturally different.Sharon’s work has allowed her to live in almost every major city across the country from California, to Nevada, to New York, just to name a few.While in New York, Sharon participated on several executive boards for the arts and music.
It is her love of the arts and music and her passion for diversity that drew her to Changing Worlds.
Sharon is a managing consultant for Hewitt Associates, a global HR consulting and outsourcing firm located in Lincolnshire, IL. We are proud to have Hewitt as a coporate partner whose commitment to diversity and its communities is evidence through its in-kind, volunteer and resource contributions to Changing Worlds. Sharon is actively involved in the corporate diversity initiatives at Hewitt and currently serves on its senior advisory council.Sharon feels it is her personal charter to help communicate the gifts we are able to receive from understanding cultural differences.The power of her story will help shape and guide the work of our board.
