For the past three years, Changing Worlds has provided professional development instruction for teachers, including workshops, seminars and week-long summer institutes. Our training sessions offer teachers opportunities for hands-on experiential learning as well as strategies they can apply in the classroom. They provide valuable resources to help teachers understand students through their individual experiences.
Jack Bevens, the Reading Coordinator at Galileo Scholastic Academy knows firsthand that Changing Worlds can provide what schools need to help make their professional development programs successful.
"Our school was focusing on writing for its professional development curriculum and Changing Worlds´ program fit perfectly," said Mr. Bevens. Changing Worlds´ professional development programs provided Galileo teachers with new skills and approaches in writing and arts integration instruction. "The workshops and instruction built upon each other, providing a progressive structure to the learning. Our teachers are very dedicated and they must be convinced that professional development programs are worth their time. That has never been a problem with Changing Worlds´ programs; they have always provided stimulating content. Throughout the school year following the training, I saw teachers using the projects undertaken with Changing Worlds in their classrooms. That´s a good sign that it worked," stated Mr. Bevens.
